Clinical Educator: Teaching Excellence Institute

The UTHSC Clinical Educator Track is a 9-month program for instructors interested in developing and/or deepening their understanding of the pedagogical strategies used to effectively teach students in clinics and hospitals.  The Clinical Educator program enrollment is open to all UTHSC clinical instructors at any level.

The program will contain several components:

  1. A series of monthly face-to-face workshops on issues related to teaching in the clinical setting.  Topics will include challenges to teaching in the clinical setting, instructional strategies to optimize learning and feedback techniques.  Workshops will be led by UTHSC faculty, TLC staff, and outside speakers.
  2. Access to print and online resources related to the above topics and other topics that arise.
  3. An online forum where members of the cohort can continue to meet and discuss thoughts and concerns about clinical education along with opportunities to meet face to face as a group.
  4. Support for the cohort should any of the members wish to continue meeting after the initial program.  The group would be self-led with support from the TLC as requested.
